From A.I generated posts and reels to now comments. Meta has introduced it all. Recently, Instagram has been updated with a new A.I generated comment feature. This feature allows users to respond to the creatives, with the help of A.I. making the comment look human generated. 

Meta has made this bold move, to boost engagement over Instagram. It aims to increase engagement among users, as they can effortlessly respond to any creative over their feed. 

A.I comments…How?

A.I has made everything accessible in a fraction of second be it posts, reels and now even comments. Meta has introduced a new feature “Write with Meta A.I” to make it simple for users to drop a post relevant comment and increase interaction. 

Though A.I comments increase engagement, they still come with caution. WHY? 

Critics may put genuinity over convenience, their concern is that comments were supposed to be genuine words rather than bot generated. It may be true that now commenting won’t take more than a fraction of seconds but, those comments won’t be true opinions or appreciation. Increasing superficial engagement will lose genuinity in interaction. 

A.I comments also face major questions of ethics:

There is a thin line between authentic interaction and bot engagement. Boost via A.I can also lead to increment in misleading information and spams. Since, it generates response as per the post, therefore, giving a boost to misinformation won’t be a great deal for it.

Summary:

Though Meta has still kept this under testing phase, the pros and cons are quite predictable here. Ultimately, the usage depends on the users, whether they want to keep interactions genuine or would like to go with the convenience of artificially building them. Therefore, this question remains subjective with the people interacting over the platform.
